This set swaps the usual dupatta for a shrug, and it works beautifully on the dance floor. The skirt is in soft kora cotton, gathered into tiers that open out into a 6 metre flair every time you turn. Underneath the shrug, a stitched full-sleeve blouse with a mirror-edged neckline keeps the look clean and easy to move in.
The shrug brings all the Kutchi detail. Real mirrors, bright thread embroidery and grey appliqué patches cover the front panels, and the hem ends in a fringe of cowrie shells, gold coins and red tassels that swing as you dance. Keep the rest simple with an oxidised choker and silver rings, and you are set for garba, dandiya nights and Navratri pujas.
