Lucknowi chikankari on pure mal cotton is one of those combinations that has been worn for generations for good reason — it is light, breathable and the white threadwork against a soft colour base never goes out of style. This gown takes that combination and gives it a floor-length treatment. At 53 inches with a full mal cotton lining, it falls cleanly and moves with you rather than against you. The chikankari covers the entire gown — scattered buttas across the body, panel-style geometric work down the centre, paisley borders at the hem and embroidered cuffs on the three-quarter sleeves.
Available in powder blue and blush pink, both colours carry the same all-over white chikankari work that reads differently depending on the light — more delicate in natural daylight, more layered under evening light. The dupatta is full mal cotton with matching chikankari work and a scalloped paisley border that drapes softly over the shoulder. The ceramic cotton pant underneath has an elastic waist and adds a clean base without bulk. This is a set that works as easily for a casual festive outing as it does for a wedding function where you want to look considered without being overdressed.
