Parrot green does the talking here, and deep purple kalis cut through it in sharp triangles that widen toward the hem. With a full 6 metre flair, the skirt spreads into a wide circle every time you spin, so the contrast panels flash in and out as you move. A canvas patta at the hem keeps the volume up and the fall clean, even after hours on the dance floor.
The choli sits on a purple base covered in multicolour thread embroidery, with red and yellow medallions, white borders and small mirrors set across the front. A pointed hem adds a folk touch at the waist. As styled here, it has a sweetheart neckline, thin straps and a criss-cross lace-up back with tassels, a cut your tailor can recreate from the unstitched piece. Silver jhumkas and a pair of dandiya sticks finish the look.
