Nine metres of flair is a lot of skirt, and this lehenga uses every bit of it. Four gathered tiers in rich magenta build volume from the waist down, then finish in a wide gold gota patti border that flashes at the hem every time you turn. The canvas patta keeps that border flat and heavy, so the tiers fan out into a full circle and fall back cleanly between spins.
The top half stays simple so the skirt can lead. A plain magenta blouse comes unstitched, ready for your tailor to cut, and a short koti layers over it with white thread flowers, mirror work along the edges and a cowrie shell trim at the hem. As styled here, the blouse has a sweetheart neck and full sleeves, which works well for cooler evenings. Gold jhumkas or temple jewellery pick up the gota border without competing with it.
