Crushed shimmer silk catches light in every fold, and this set gives it plenty of folds to work with. The short kurta has a sweetheart neckline, small sequin buttis across the body and a scalloped hem built up with large paisley motifs in 5mm sequins and thread embroidery. The three-quarter sleeves end in matching scalloped cuffs, and a tasselled tie-up closes the back.
The sharara is where the drama sits. Vines of sequins run down from an embroidered knee band into full gathered flares, finished with a wide scalloped border that echoes the kurta hem. The 2.3 metre dupatta carries a sequin trellis and a matching border. Add a statement choker, chandbalis and a stack of bangles, and you are dressed for a sangeet, mehendi or wedding reception.
