Cording embroidery is a technique where thick raised cord is couched onto the fabric in intricate patterns — it creates a sculptural, three-dimensional quality that flat thread or sequence work simply cannot replicate. On this chinon silk sharara set, it is used to full effect. The neckline carries a dense Mughal arch motif in gold cording and sequence, which trails into the V-panel and fans outward across the kurta front. Scattered gold flower buttas cover the full body of both the kurta and sharara. The hem of the sharara carries the most elaborate work — oversized paisley and floral medallions in heavy gold cording with a scalloped lower edge and a diamond lattice band above it. The effect is rich and occasion-ready without being overdressed.

Four colour options — royal purple, bottle green, ivory white, and black — all carry the same gold embroidery. Each reads completely differently in character: the purple and green are bold and festive, the white is bridal-adjacent without committing to bridal, and the black is evening-function sharp. The chinon silk dupatta with matching cording embroidery and border is substantial enough to hold draping shape without slipping. At 1 kg total, this set has the weight and presence of something considerably more expensive than its price suggests.

Frequently Asked Questions

A: Cording embroidery uses a thick raised cord that is stitched onto the fabric surface, creating a sculptural, three-dimensional outline to each motif. Regular zari thread lies flat — cording sits above the fabric and catches light from the side, giving each motif much more depth and visual weight.

A: For a reception where the lighting tends to be warm and the setting is more formal, the bottle green or royal purple photograph beautifully and read very intentional. For a sangeet, the black with gold is a strong choice — it has an evening-function energy that stands out in a crowd of colourful outfits.

A: The sharara is stitched to fit up to a waist size of 44. It typically has a drawstring or elasticated waist that accommodates a range of sizes up to this measurement comfortably. Reach out to us before ordering if you need a custom size.

A: Chinon silk is smooth, breathable, and lightweight for its drape quality. At 1 kg total for the set, you get good fabric presence without the heaviness of velvet or brocade. It holds its shape well through a full event without becoming uncomfortable.

A: Yes — the ivory white with heavy gold cording work reads bridal-adjacent without being a full bridal lehenga. Paired with gold jewellery and a simple maang tikka, it works very well for an intimate ceremony where you want to look considered without a heavy bridal look.
