A Banarasi saree with a contrast handwork blouse is the pairing that works for every family wedding on your calendar. The satin silk has a deep, glossy finish with a subtle self-jacquard floral pattern in the base and gold zari buttis woven across the body. A wide zari border runs along both edges, and the pallu is fully woven with dense florals and paisley motifs, finished with silk tassels.
The blouse is where the craft shows. A large medallion on each sleeve is built from glass beads, sequins and bugle beads, with multicolour thread leaves radiating outward. The same handwork frames the neckline. Pick purple with a mustard blouse or magenta with a teal blouse. Add a diamond-look necklace and gold bangles for weddings, receptions, pujas and Diwali.
